The basic course format we aim for at myNetWorks is based on the following ideas:
the course is made by practitioners for practitioners
it is as much as possible based on real world case studies
the courses should encourage reflective practice, having stages of reflection on real problems and stages of action on these problems. As an example we can cite the test workshop developed in February 2003: case studies were analysed in detail in week 1; while Week 2 was dedicated to an evaluation process using different citeria (e.g. performance, economics, maintenance issues...) and to the application of these into a specific real project derived from one of the participants' practice.
the workload should not exceed 1,5-2 hours per day since most of the participants will be working during the day
the course contains synchronous elements (e.g. chats) and asynchronous elements (e.g. discussion groups, assignments) to allow participants from different time zones to take part
the environment should facilitate the individual and collaborative learning processes as much as possible and should be rather lean in terms of design, technology used etc.
